Friendship Baptist Church (FBC) is located in New Concord, Ohio East of Columbus. This rural village has a population of 2,500 and is located in Muskingum County which has a population of about 86,000. The two largest employers are both educators & both are located within one or two miles of FBC: Muskingum University with approximately 1,450 undergraduate students & 100 faculty, & East Muskingum School District which draws kids from about a ten mile radius and hosts over 2,200 students & 160 faculty.
FBC is a casual contemporary church founded in 1978. Our Church family gathering is typically around 100 people. Sunday morning begins at 9:00am with Adult, Youth, & Children's Discipleship Classes. Our Worship Service begins at 10:30am where we sing contemporary praise, pray together, hear a message from the Bible, & have a time of invitation to respond to God. Right before the message, our children (PreK- 5th grade) go to Children's Church where they engage in biblical, age-appropriate lessons. We have a nursery available throughout the entire service. We also celebrate communion and baptism throughout the year. Our Children's Ministry includes AWANA on Sunday evenings that brings in children from our community. Our Youth Ministry includes a time to disciple & equip our students for "salty" Christianity.
Friendship Baptist is involved in our community through Hope Groups, specific groups that meet to address live altering circumstances like death, bankruptcy, and divorce. Our body meets together throughout the week in Life Groups where we apply Sunday's sermon, pray for one another, open the Bible together, and care for one another. We are a part of the Southern Baptist Convention & function autonomously through our congregational membership. We are not a church where you come & only observe, but a church body where you serve & are served, know others & can be known by others, love & are loved. We love the gospel & believe that it influences what we do when we gather together, how we serve one another, & how we follow Jesus.
